Founding member of the CRASH CLUB collective/label, Nasir stylized "nasir" is a genre-bending, vocally dynamic, rapping-singing-producing-younameit musician, who's expansive discography oscillates between irreverent, amusing brags and intimate, introspective moods. Born Jeffrey Covington Jr. in 2000, the Columbus based artist first began creating music at age 15, using Garageband on his phone to learn the basics of production and (after selling "phone-beats" to aspiring artists around his high school) make enough money to buy a laptop to record on. After a decade of recording and releasing music under various monikers, Covington started releasing music under the name nasir citing that prior to being named after his father, that Nasir was to be his original name. Steeped in a newfound maturity and confidence, nasir's discography leans in the direction of a rebel; doesn't want to be pinned down to one sound, doesn't want anyone to guess his next move correctly, and doesn't want anyone to be bored. Leading the charge with the punchy and in-your-face "SIX BRIX, USA," (an ode to the city he hails) nasir makes known that his rambunctious nature comes first. His 2025 independent debut project MY SH*T HARDER is a tragic narrative layered in a deconstruction of the typical rapper bravado, punctuated by pronounced Rock and Alternative influences, crescendoing into the vulnerable and angsty "V. END OF THE WORLD" a rock ballad more akin to Deftones and Nirvana than other rap contemporaries. Ever kinetic and fluctuating, nasir is hellbent on making his energy known, felt, and beloved.
